This gorgeous piece is so full of wonderful things that it's hard to know where to start. The overall mood feels calm, not quiet but perhaps muffled or gentle conversation and the sounds of ponies quietly going about their business, crickets chirping in the nearby woods, etc. The fancy buildings may be old and a bit unsteady, but they have unbeatable character with half-timbered construction, dormers, lovely trim on the decks and edges, and so much more. Better yet, with the bits of clutter, crates, casks, etc. here and there it feels lived and very homey. Even the cute critter poking around by the casks agrees. Bringing so much detail alive without needing to make everything exact is an amazing skill.
The village's lighting is gorgeous, with the strung lights and lanterns casting a gentle glow on the lovely flowers and grasses, etc., surrounding the buildings, along with giving the big tree's outline a sweet contrast to help draw attention to it – not that the lovely bat-pony with the enchanting glowing eyes and lovely colors that compliment the night.
Then the moonlight from the prettiest sky gives all the treetops and roofs a cooler, more gentle glow. The fading of the two different kinds of light on the ground looks perfect. The rustic signs for the pub and the village itself are charming.
Now the big question is what the inhabitants think of the adorable fruit-sucking pony who seems to have taken up residence.
tl;dr Gorgeous work, Wilvarin-Liadon; and NostradamusT, you're awesome for giving your pal such a fantastic gift. Thanks to all of you.
